CLIPit Privacy Policy
Smartware, LLC, producer of Clip-It!, and its affiliates
are committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information
that you provide to us when using Clip-It! This Privacy Policy
describes how we treat personal information received about
you when you register to use Clip-It!
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT. Smartware collects information
about our subscribers' use of the Service in order to provide
a secure and personalized experience. We collect the following
information:
- Contact Information
During registration you provide us with a limited amount
of "Contact Information." This includes information
that would allow someone to identify or contact You, including,
for example, Your e-mail address.
- Personal Non-contact Information
By registering for and using Clip-It! you also provide "Personal
Non-contact Information." This is anonymous information
about You that does not include Your name or contact information.
For instance, the articles You save and share via the Service
is Personal Non-contact Information. We use this information
to customize the Service for You and will not include or
refer to Contact Information, when using this type of data.
For example, A user might indicate in the registration survey
that she is female. Based on this information, we may deliver
advertisements targeting females.
Surveys: We may conduct occasional
online surveys. For example, when you're within our Web site,
you may see a pop-up window offering you the optional opportunity
of participating in a survey. These surveys are entirely voluntary
and you may easily decline to participate.
- Aggregated Information
"Aggregated Information" refers to information
we gather by aggregating Personal Non-contact Information
to provide a summary of our subscribers. We use Aggregated
Information for example to show usage patterns to Clip-It!
partners or potential partners. Examples of such aggregated
data would be demographic information such as age, gender,
or zip code. Such Information is not linked to Your Contact
Information.
- Web Site Usage Information: We automatically collect
IP addresses and Web site usage information from you when
you visit our Web site. This information helps us evaluate
how our visitors and subscribers use and navigate our Web
sites on an aggregate basis, including the number and frequency
of visitors and subscribers to each Web page, and the length
of their visits.
2. CONTACT INFORMATION WE COLLECT. We may collect
Contact Information when You: (a) sign up as a subscriber;
(b) make changes to Your subscriber profile information; and
(c) send e-mail messages, forms, or other information to us
or via the Service. When You sign up as a subscriber, we ask
for Contact Information, such as an e-mail address, to allow
us to create an account for You, respond to Your questions
or contact You regarding Your account. We use the e-mail address
You provide on the registration form as a primary user identifier.
Like many other Web sites, Smartware uses a standard technology
called "cookies". Cookies are small pieces of information
stored on Your hard drive and not on our site. When you sign
on to our Web site or take advantage of several key features,
we may pass cookies to your computer. Cookies allow You to
login without entering Your login information each time You
use the Service. Cookies help us understand how subscribers
use the Service, which allows us to improve and tailor the
Service. You will not be able to use the Service if You disable
cookies.
3. OUR USE OF CONTACT INFORMATION. Smartware uses Your
Contact Information to create a secure and personalized service
for You. We also use Your Contact Information to contact You,
if You expressly consent, regarding updates about the Service,
Smartware or customer Web sites. You may opt-out of receiving
mailings from us at any time.
4. DISCLOSURE OF CONTACT INFORMATION. We do not sell,
rent, or loan Your Contact Information to third parties, like
mass marketers, for example, without Your permission. However,
if You registered through a partner Web site, we share with
the partner Web site Your registration information and content
You collected from the customer Web site only. We do not share
Your registration information with any other Web site besides
the customer Web site through which You registered. We may
disclose Personal Non-contact Information and Aggregated Information
about our subscribers, but that information does not contain
Contact Information.
If law enforcement or judicial authorities require Smartware
to provide Contact Information on a subscriber, we must cooperate
with the authorities provided they support their requirement
with the necessary legal documentation.
5. THIRD PARTY VENDORS. Smartware works with a third
party that serves ads to this site. We do not disclose Contact
Information to third party vendors.
6. PRIVACY PROTECTION FOR CHILDREN. In compliance with
the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we will
not knowingly provide our Service to persons under the age
of thirteen (13). If Smartware later learns that any subscriber
is under the age of thirteen (13), we will take appropriate
steps to remove the subscriber's information from the database
and will restrict access to the Service.
7. ACCESSING YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION. You can access
and update Your registration information by logging onto the
Service and selecting the Admin button. The Admin page allows
You to update Your registration information. You may choose
to have Your Contact Information deleted by contacting help@clipit.net.
We provide You with the opportunity to opt-in to receive communications
from us or any of our customer Web sites when You register
for our Service. Once You opt-in, You can discontinue receiving
updates about Smartware or our customer Web sites by sending
a message to help@clipit.net.
8. CONSENT. This Privacy Policy is a part of the Terms of Use page. When You use the Service, including
services available at the Smartware.com domain, You are using
a service provided by Smartware and You agree to be bound
by the Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy. Some terms may
be defined in the Terms of Use. This Privacy Policy only addresses
activities from our servers. Other sites (including those
that we link to and third party sites or services which we
co-brand) may have their own policies, which we do not control,
and thus are not addressed or controlled by this policy.
9. NOTIFICATION. If we are going to use your personally
identifiable information in a manner different from that stated
at the time of collection we will notify you via email. You
will have a choice as to whether or not we use your information
in this manner.
We at Smartware believe strongly in respecting the
privacy of all our users. We will update and amend this statement
if and when it is necessary. Please check back often to review
the most up-to-date statement. Upon posting the amended version,
Smartware will take reasonable measures, to alert you to changes
